The Moon and You

Can you feel it?

There’s something happening all around us. An inexplicable energy that is challenging every fiber of our being. Maybe you’re feeling on edge or perhaps frustrated? Or perhaps you’re more emotional than usual. Some people describe it as just feeling, “off” or “not themselves.” However, there is a reason for this shift in energy—an interesting one.

On December 18th, the final full moon of the year, a super expansive full moon in Gemini, arrives. This moon is often referred to as the Cold Moon or the Long Night Moon because it is the last full moon of the year that happens during the darkest and coldest time in the Northern Hemisphere.

Curiously, this full moon occurs right before the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year and acts as a reminder of the birth of a new season. How appropriate!

Now, for some of you, this might not sound like a big deal, but it’s timing couldn’t be more significant. Here’s why. This particular full moon offers us a time to reflect, plot and strategize. It creates an energy all around that calls us to explore our gut feelings, our doubts and all that challenges us. It’s about culminations, conclusions, realizations, and epiphanies. Everyone I’ve talked to lately has some big “A-ha” they’ve recently come to or are in the process of formulating. And yet, its critically important to be still during this time.  Take a moment to observe your feelings, environment and those around you. What do you feel? How is it impacting your daily routine? It’s really about tuning in to your life and less about taking action—at least for now.

If you’re feeling out of balance or like you’re struggling between opposing forces, pressures or circumstances, there’s a reason. Your life is out of balance.

With every full moon, we are tasked with asking ourselves what changes we need to make to create more peace in our lives. The Full Moon in Gemini asks us to explore the balance between logic and intuition, personal truth and collective truth and the journey of learning and knowledge.

So, if you’re feeling emotionally conflicted, don’t fret. This is an important time to seek stability, while pushing us to find comfort while exploring how these emotions and feelings are working for or against us. By taking the time to reflect, we can prioritize what’s really important, from the smallest task to the ones that feel herculean. This isn’t a time to be hard on yourself. Quite the opposite. It’s about understanding, compassion and curiosity. Above all, it’s about expansion.

So why do I think this so important?

Because whether you know it or not, full moons offer us feedback on our lives. If we allow ourselves to pay attention to the message, we can learn from the information we receive during these times. And when we learn, we grow. By evolving, we can walk toward our future stronger, wiser and better prepared for whatever life has in store for us.

How has the Full Moon in Gemini impacted you? What are you battling to understand? I would love to hear your thoughts. Share them below.
