Every Day is a New Chance to Start Over

Happy New Year! As we ring in 2019, I’ve been thinking about how to make the most of the coming year. What I can do to create great abundance for myself and others. Every year, January brings renewed optimism for change, for a better life, for a better you. And that’s a wonderful thing.

It’s wonderful, because this fresh start gives us a chance to reinvent our lives and ourselves. It allows us to reinvigorate ourselves, to shed the baggage of the previous year and do anything. And I for one believes that anything is possible! I am a living, breathing testament to that!

If you read my last blog, “Why I Don’t Make New Year’s Resolutions,” you know I am not a fan of this ritual. And for good reason. It’s generally a set up for failure. So often we are held back by our perception of previous failures, unfulfilled commitments, latent emotions and self-imposed barriers. As a result, we live in a world full of excuses. We create reasons we cannot change careers and get out of a job you hate, why you can't get back into shape or even create more opportunities to spend quality time with those we love. We tell ourselves it’s just too hard. That it’s too hard to change.

Change is hard.

But it’s worth it.

And it begins with letting go. Letting go of your old self-belief that it’s too hard. Letting go of the belief that you don’t have time. Letting go of the belief that your life will never get better. Letting go of attachments you’ve placed on things that may or may not have held you back such as fear, failure, trepidation. Letting go of last year, and starting 2019 anew

You see, a fresh start is all about having a clean slate. It’s fresh palette.

I believe that every day is a chance to start over.

And it is.

Starting today, right now, you’ve been given a fresh start. You have the opportunity to choose different. What do you want? Forget about your goals or resolutions and focus on what really matters to you most. What makes you get out of bed in the morning excited to start your day? What inspires you? What are you truly passionate about? Your answer may be more complicated and therefore take some time to formulate. That’s ok. Allow yourself the freedom to create a new plan. To walk a new path. When you’re doing whatever you’re passionate about, whatever matters most, whatever you decide is worthy of your time and heart and focus, you will most certainly be happy! You’re doing what you love. And that is truly a gift.

Be passionate, be happy.

If you go into 2019 with this belief, you will have a fresh start every single day — not just on January 1. And that is the best way to start the New Year.
